Mathis Canyon

Hiking Mathis Canyon Trail from West Ridge into Wood Canyon is a stunning way to enter Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. Sitting on the Juaneño Native American Lands this trail provides a unique opportunity to consider the region’s rich history, and also features artifacts and remnants of more recent sheep and cattle ranches. The trail itself is a wide fire trail for most of its approximately one mile.
